For more than 50 years, Contact Care Line has served as a trusted, confidential lifeline for individuals in emotional distress. Through 24/7 phone, text, and online chat services, their trained volunteers and staff provide crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and compassionate listening in English and Spanish. In 2023 alone, they supported more than 56,000 people.
As a United Way of Greater Knoxville funded partner, Contact Care Line has been able to grow thoughtfully and strategically. “The support from United Way has been instrumental in empowering our work, often in ways that happen quietly but powerfully behind the scenes,” said Hailey Goad, operations manager. “Their investment in our capacity helped us strengthen our foundation and better serve the community.”
With support from UWGK donors, Contact continues to expand key initiatives promoting mental wellness across East Tennessee. These include free Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) offered to the community, personalized reassurance calls that help seniors live independently and safely, and outreach programs like the LOSS Team and Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group, which provide critical care and connection after a suicide loss.
If you or someone you love is struggling with thoughts of suicide, call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 to speak with a trained counselor 24/7.
