The United in Purpose event brought together major donors, partners, and community supporters for a reception honoring the campaign’s success under the Gheens’ leadership. The couple was chosen as 2025 Campaign Chairs because of their long-standing commitment to service, volunteerism, and investment in the Knoxville community.

The year brought meaningful milestones for UWGK, including the formal approval of Chrystal Armstrong Brown as President and CEO, following her leadership as interim CEO. Brown offered her gratitude to partners and donors for their support throughout the campaign and highlighted the critical role the community played in achieving success.
Throughout the season, Greg and Kim Gheen visited numerous United Way partner organizations from Helping Mamas to Second Harvest and Community Schools, seeing firsthand the impact that donor support makes across East Tennessee. Greg reflected on five lessons from the experience, emphasizing community diversity, the importance of volunteerism, and the value of strong leadership and staff in driving impact.
The campaign goal for 2025 was set at $8.5 million, reflecting UWGK’s ongoing commitment to mobilizing resources that support local families, children, and neighbors most in need.
