Financial freedom is at the core of every thriving community. At United Way of Greater Knoxville, our East Tennessee Collaborative work is making strides, helping over 600 families across East Tennessee achieve their goals and reach financial stability.
The East Tennessee Collaborative (ETC) program offers a network of support that fosters growth and resilience for participants and mentors alike. India, a mentor in the program, has experienced firsthand the transformative power of this two-way partnership.
Erika’s journey with the East Tennessee Collaborative (ETC) program began during a challenging chapter of her life. Through her work with ETC, Erika started to see tangible changes. She set clear goals, and with her mentor’s support, tackled everything one step at a time.
When Darrisha joined United Way of Greater Knoxville’s East Tennessee Collaborative (ETC) program in October 2023, she was ready to take charge of her future. Determined to create a better life for herself and her two young boys, she sought support to achieve her goals.
ETC participant, Megan, is a dedicated single mom of three. For years, she has worked as a medical billing specialist without having the resources to earn her accreditation. With support from ETC, Megan became a certified biller and opened doors to a brighter future.
United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) partnered with Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Knox County Parks and Recreation, the Knox County Mayor’s Office, and dedicated volunteers to distribute over 500 Thanksgiving meals to families in our local Community Schools this holiday season.
Through mentorship and participant-led goal-setting, ETC empowers parents and caregivers to pursue their dreams. Whether they need long-term support or just a boost to make it through hard times, ETC helps people build a brighter future. For ETC participant LaShae, someone walking beside her during a hard time made all the difference.
